My Stampin' Up! Story...

I remember the day that my friend invited me to her Stampin’ Up! workshop. She pulled out a little goody bag that the demonstrator gave her for booking a workshop; there were a few ribbons, papers, brads included to get her hooked. That’s how I saw it anyways! She invited me to come and my exact words to her were, “I’ll come because I’m your friend, but I am not crafty.” She looked a little disappointed, but agreed that I should just come anyways, I might enjoy myself!

I went home and told my husband that I was going to this stamping party and that I wasn’t particularly thrilled about it. He rolled his eyes at me, knowing full well how well I stuck to my hobbies.

The night of the party came and I pulled a $20 bill out of the ATM, looked my husband in the eye and told him I wouldn’t spend any more than that and off I went! I watched the demonstrator demonstrate the cards, and it was fun and neat, but I was still not convinced that it was for me. Then it came to the make and take. It was a neat little pencil holder, since it was back to school time, made with Brilliant Blue and Green Galore the Bug Builder set and matching wheel. We used sticky strip and the crimper to keep the bottom of the pencil holder together. I remember being slightly nervous to touch the wheel to the cardstock, knowing that what I was about to do was permanent. I couldn’t mess it up, even though I had no idea who I was going to give the pencil holder to!

I finally just went for it, put the wheel to the cardstock, it wasn’t straight but it was fun! As soon as I put the finishing touches on the holder I figured I had to at least get the wheel. I put the wheel, the handle and the ink cartridge on my order form and had maybe two dollars left over. Then the darn demonstrator asked if anyone would be interested in being a hostess. Still to this day I am not sure what came over me, but my hand shot up and I picked a date and booked a workshop.
My workshop was a month or two later, as soon as I opened my box of goodies when it arrived I knew I had to be a demonstrator. I waited till the next February and as soon as I had the money in my pocket I signed up. More than five years later here I am, still loving stamping and enjoy making friends, and making a little money on the side!

This is a nice and easy card to make as well, however, I also made it with the flower and it was just as cute, if not cuter! This card is made with Elements of Style and All A Flutter stamp sets, Rich Razzleberry CS and ink, and Whisper White CS.

Another easy, and simple card. Using Thoughts & Prayers stamp set, Kraft CS, Chocolate Chip CS and ink, and Natural White CS, and tearing method.

Just a one layer card, and I really like it, it's easy to put together and takes less than five minutes! This card was made using Embrace Life stamp set, Kraft CS, Rose Red marker and double stitched ribbon, and Chocolate Chip ink.

This card is made with the Animal Crackers stamp set, Tall Tales DSP, Kraft CS, Chocolate Chip CS and ink, and Rose Red CS.
This is another version of a card I made with Bitty Birthdays but this is made with the single stamp set Birthday Block, Certainly Celery CS and ink, Lovely Lilac CS and ink, and Whisper White CS and ribbon.
This set is made with Things I Love stamp set, Melon Mambo CS and ink, Pretty in Pink CS, ink, and satin ribbon, and Basic Black CS.

This card is so fun, again I borrowed this from another demonstrator! I believe they call this an explosion card! This card is made using Under The Stars stamp set, Garden Green CS and ink, Basic Gray CS and ink, Close To Cocoa CS and ink, and hemp twine.

I saw another demonstrator make a card similar to this, and I just fell in love with it! One layer easy card made with Blissful Bride stamp set, Whisper White CS, Elegant Eggplant ink and Whisper White Organza ribbon. Very easy card!
I CASEd this card from another demonstrator and changed a few things to make it more me! This card uses Baroque Motifs, Butterfly Embosslits, Whisper White CS, Elegant Eggplant CS, Perfect Plum CS. Nice easy card to make!

A Few More Cards I Made

I should probably take a better picture of this, you can't even see the black satin ribbon. Totally in love with the set, the Sizzix Square Lattice embossing folder, The Elements of Style set... Oye, I'm just in love with this card actually! I couldn't wait to share. This card is made with Naturals White CS, Basic Black CS, ink, and Satin ribbon. Simple, yet elegant!

I think I like this card... I love the Lots of Bots set, but I just haven't known what to do with it. I think I may have found it! I used the Basic Gray (?), Basic Black and Whisper White CS and inks to make this card, the Extra Large Cogs punch, and Silver Smooch Spritz! Hopefully you enjoy this card too!

I know I posted one just like this earlier, but I swear there are a couple of changes done to it. First look at the gray section of the card... It's Basic Gray that I ran through the Big Shot and added a texture to it, then I sprayed it with Silver Smooch Spritz. Love that stuff, I'll probably need to buy stock in the company! I thought it turned out just a little nicer than the first one. But the other elements are the same!

A Few from the Upcoming 15 for $15!

Just thought I'd share a few cards from the upcoming 15 for $15 party. I got this idea from another demonstrator and altered it a bit. This card is made using the Tropical Party stamp set, Garden Green ink and CS, Soft Suede Ink and CS, and Rich Razzleberry Ink and CS.

I'm not sure that this is going to be the finished product, but this is using the Elements of Style stamp set and the All A Flutter single stamp Kraft CS, Baroque Burgundy CS, Chocolate Chip Ink, Pewter brads, Log Cabin and Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.
This card was made with the single Motorcycle stamp set, In A Word stamp set, Basic Black ink and CS, Whisper White CS, Real Red CS, and Brushed Silver CS. Quick and easy card to make!

Awash with Flowers

This is a project that I put together with the Sneak Peek set Stampin' Up! released early this year. This set is only going to be available through the end of April, once it's gone it won't be available again till July 1st in the 2010/2011 Idea Book and Catalog. I made a little booklet for my cousin's wedding, obviously her colors were black and hot pink.

Once They are Gone They're Gone!

Here is a .jpeg of the retiring colors for you to see. It's been announced also that once the retiring list of stamps is announced all of the retiring colors will stop being made, so once the supplies for that color are depleted, they will not make any more. So if you like certain retiring colors budget and just have to have more of them before they retire throw that in your budget!

New Color Chart

Well, I'm just going to have to save the file as a .jpg file and go from there. Neither program likes my .pdf file! Starting in the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog the current color families will be no more. Here are the Color Collections as they will be in the 2010-2011 IB&C. Hopefully this will give you time to either stock up on retiring colors, or save up money for incoming colors!

Winds of Change are Blowin'!

Some of us enjoy change, and some of us aren't so keen on it. I'm beside myself with excitement for the newest change that Stampin' Up! just announced yesterday!

Stampin' Up! is undergoing a Color Revolution! I can't get the darn thing to link to work. I'll see if I can get the PDF file to upload through the my Demonstrator Business Web Site. Check out my blog there in a few minutes to see if I can get the pdf to load! Some great colors are coming back, and there's a few new ones that I can't wait to try!

I cannot get this card to take a decent picture! Oh well, this set is Animal Crackers and I used Kraft CS, Chocolate Chip CS and ink, Tall Tales DSP, Watercolor paper, and SU Watercolor pencils. I ended up adding a big star brad to it later and I think it was a cute touch. I took a picture of this card eight times before I could get one that wasn't so blurry you couldn't make out what it was. At least you can see what the card looked like!

New Cards from a 5 for $5

My favorite! I had no idea I was going to love Vintage Vogue so much! That being said, I used the Vintage Vogue stamp set, Sincere Salutations set, Kraft CS, Chocolate Chip CS and ink, and Very Vanilla CS, and Pewter brads! Seriously, totally obsessed with this card! Now I want to do it in black and white!

I CASE'd this card from Pam Staples, hers was way prettier, but I really like how this turned out! Plus I'm just in love with the Medallion stamp! Ooh yes, I used the Medallion stamp, Real Red CS and Ink, Basic Black CS, ink, and grosgrain ribbon, and Whimsical Words stamp set!

I tried to keep this card as simple as possible. I used the Sale-A-Bration set Happy Moments (clear-mount), Cottage Wall DSP, Rich Razzleberry CS and ink, And Old Olive CS.

Oops... I forgot!

Hey, I'm kinda proud of myself though. I only let about a week go by before remembering to post Lyssa's blog for you to go get inspiration from! She's got amazing projects, and I'm sure lots and lots of ideas that will make you run for your stamps!

So sorry I haven't gotten the cards up from my latest party. My computer has decided to poop out, it's being very finicky when trying to even access pictures to post on my blog. I'll see if I can change that. And my wonderful printer that has an SD card slot in it decided that it doesn't like my SD card either... Hmph! So there's two electronics that no longer working for me! Oh, nope three! My laptop isn't working either. Oh well, I guess that's the way life works!

Have a wonderful weekend, and I'll try to get cards up this weekend!

Friday, January 29, 2010

Hello again...

I have some new projects to post, but I probably won't get them up until Monday morning! A great (and easy) new project that I CASE'd from another Demonstrator, who actually received it from another demonstrator! I know it sounds complicated, but I'll link to Lyssa's blog so you can see her awesome projects! She has some amazing projects that will be a great inspiration to you I'm sure! I know they are to me! So look for Lyssa's blog link in the sidebar!

I have a Mystery Hostess Workshop coming up this weekend, and a mini stamp-a-stack coming up at the end of February. If you want to hostess a workshop now is the time to do it. Sale-A-Bration is going on and with every $50 you spend you recieve a free Sale-A-Bration stamp set, punch, or DSP stack. Plus this year Stampin' Up! is offering free sets out of the IBC if you aren't too keen on the sets in the Sale-A-Bration mini. There is still time, so book a workshop today! I've linked to those wonderful deals to day too! I'm so late in catching up with everything!!!

Hopefully one day I'll be on top of all of this! It'll probably be when I get to stay home! (Retirement???)
